397(1) “An employer must insure that a worker who works with or near a controlled product or performs work involving the manufacture of a controlled product is trained in

(a) the content required on the supplier label and the work site label and the purposes and significance of the information on the label

(b) the content required on the material safety data sheet and the purpose and significance of the information on the material safety data

(c) procedures for safely storing, using, and handling the controlled product.

Course Details

Tired of the same old BORING WHMIS training? Pro Safety's new WHMIS program is story based and highly interactive. Your employees will rave!

This course is classroom intensive – approx 4 hours of classroom instruction, followed by a short exam to insure that workers understand the important components of WHMIS and what is required of them and the employer under Alberta’s WHMIS regulations.

  2. Worker Responsibilities Under WHMIS
  3. Employer Responsibilities Under WHMIS
  4. Workplace Label Requirements & Limitations
  5. MSDS Requirements – How to Read an MSDS
  6. Proper Decanting and Storage of Controlled Products
  7. Hazardous Materials Classifications
  8. Supplier Labels – Requirements and How to Read Them 

Each participant will receive a WHMIS handbook & pocket guide to keep. Successful participants will receive a certificate from the Albert Construction Safety Association ®.

Pro Safety will tailor this course to your workplace. We will endeavor to use MSDS sheets from your facility in our training program.
